Today, AFRODE CLINIC launches its evidence-based 90-day weight management program, the Personal Diet Program. Dr. Shotaro Michishita, Director of AFRODE CLINIC, shares the philosophy behind this initiative.
We Did Not Want “Quick Results” to Be the Goal
Many of our patients have attempted weight loss multiple times — carbohydrate restriction, fasting, trending methods. Some see temporary results, but within six months to a year, they are back where they started. Many arrive at our clinic emotionally worn down by this cycle.
We have long felt that a fundamentally different approach is needed — one that goes beyond changing appearances in a short time. From your 30s and 40s onward, hormones, metabolism, gut microbiome, skeletal structure, and skin turnover enter a different phase from your 20s. The same methods no longer yield the same results. This is not a failure of effort; it is a natural sign that the body has moved to its next stage.
Building a Body That Lasts 10 to 20 Years
At AFRODE CLINIC, we prioritize building a body designed to thrive for the next 10 to 20 years, rather than chasing short-term metrics. The Personal Diet Program distills that philosophy into a 90-day protocol.
It is grounded in Lifestyle Medicine as advocated by Harvard University and the Mayo Clinic — an approach that redesigns daily life itself, rather than relying on medication or quick-fix interventions. It may not be dramatic, but we believe it is the most reproducible path and the one most likely to genuinely serve each individual’s life.
Why We Start With Testing
The program begins with five assessments: blood work, genetic profiling, gut microbiome analysis, skin evaluation, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). The reason is straightforward: what works best for any given individual only becomes visible once we have their data.
The same diet can yield different results depending on gut microbiome composition. The same exercise can differ in efficiency based on genetic metabolic traits. That is why, rather than handing everyone an identical plan, a physician, registered dietitian, and personal trainer design an individualized protocol based on your body’s data. This is the core of the program.
Graduating as Someone Who Can Continue on Their Own
The 90-day structure is intentional. The first month is about understanding your body; the second is about creating change; the third is about establishing sustainable habits. The goal is for participants to graduate in a state where they can maintain their progress independently, without ongoing reliance on the clinic.
Because our physician, dietitian, and trainer engage deeply with each individual, enrollment is limited to five participants per month. AFRODE CLINIC normally operates by referral only, but this program is open without a referral — our way of making the essence of preventive medicine accessible to more people.
If you are considering taking your health seriously with the next 10 to 20 years in mind, we invite you to begin with a complimentary consultation. We will give you an honest assessment of whether this program is the right fit for you.
